TaxShift.ca is dedicated to the promotion and development of "revenue neutral" carbon taxes in Canada.
Why a carbon tax?
Fossil fuel emissions are one of the major contributors to climate change. A tax on carbon increases the cost of emissions by shifting more of the tax burden to carbon-based fuels, and is a relatively simple and important part of an effective policy aimed at reducing fossil fuel emissions. "Revenue neutral" means that new tax income would not be an additional revenue for the goverment, but would be returned to taxpayers in the form of direct payments and/or reductions in other forms of taxation.
Who you are
We assume that you come to this site convinced that climate change is the product of our current fossil fuel based economy, and that there is an urgent and compelling need to act to prevent it. Those who are not convinced are invited to debate this elsewhere. We believe that the means may be subject to debate, but the time to act is now.
Who we are
We are a small group of individuals who see an opportunity to make a first step towards a sustainable economy that can be supported by a broad constituency. Please contact us if you would like to help.
